Our mission

In 2024, to mark the 100th anniversary of the Royal Van Leeuwen, the Rietberg family and the family-owned company jointly took the initiative of establishing the Van Leeuwen Education Foundation.

Piet van Leeuwen founded Van Leeuwen in 1924, starting out by trading steel pipes and iron in Zwijndrecht. He had to work from an early age and acquired his knowledge through self-study and evening classes. Inspired by his story, the Van Leeuwen Education Foundation aims to promote equal opportunities for everyone. We support initiatives that provide access to quality education, regardless of background. Our belief is that a good education is essential in improving a person's chances of finding their place in society that matches their interests and capabilities, and offers promising prospects for the future.
